Audubon Imperials
The Original Audubon Imperial Prints offered here represent authentic nineteenth-century plates from Audubon’s monumental Viviparous Quadrupeds of North America, the final great natural history project undertaken by John James Audubon in collaboration with his sons. Published between 1845 and 1848 and printed by the renowned Philadelphia lithographer John T. Bowen, these large-format Imperial folio lithographs measure approximately 22 by 28 inches and depict North American mammals with extraordinary detail, artistic beauty, and scientific accuracy. With only a few hundred complete Imperial sets produced, surviving originals are scarce and highly sought after by collectors, museums, and investors. Each hand-colored lithograph is an original nineteenth-century work of art, prized for its craftsmanship, historical significance, and connection to one of the most celebrated naturalists in American history.
