Harper's Pictorial History of the Civil War is a two volume anthology, published in 1866 and 1868, that served as a contemporaneous, illustrated record of the American Civil War, comprising articles, engravings, and maps. It was intended to present a pro-Union narrative of the war's events. 

Frank Leslie's Illustrated Newspaper, later renamed Leslie's Weekly, was an American illustrated literary and news magazine founded in 1855 and published until 1922. It was one of several magazines started by publisher and illustrator Frank Leslie.

Edwin Austin Forbes (1839 – March 6, 1895) was an American landscape painter and etcher who first gained fame during the American Civil War for his detailed and dramatic sketches of military subjects, including battlefield combat scenes.
