This is the finest re-creation of the original Binns copy of the Declaration of Independence. We purchased the remaining numbers and they have never been opened or framed, thus, they are new and in mint condition.
- Ornate and detailed: Binns' engraving, published in 1819, was known for its elaborate design, featuring portraits of founding fathers like George Washington, John Hancock, and Thomas Jefferson, surrounded by the seals of the thirteen original states.
- Aiming for accuracy: Binns sought to create a "splendid and correct copy," meticulously recreating the Declaration's text and aiming for "exact imitations" of the signatures through the use of skilled engravers.
- Historical Context: This copy emerged in a period of heightened American patriotism following the War of 1812, public interest in the Declaration was growing, and Binns was one of the first to recognize the demand for widely available facsimiles.
