1779 REVOLUTIONARY WAR RECEIPT FOR GENERAL HORATIO GATES – BARREL OF SUGAR – ORIGINAL MANUSCRIPT DOCUMENT
Original Revolutionary War manuscript receipt dated 13 December 1779 concerning supplies destined for the headquarters of Major General Horatio Gates, famed victor of Saratoga.
The document reads in part:
"Received 13 Dec. 1779 ... one Barrel Sugar which I promise to deliver to Gen. Gates at his Quarters."
Signed by Miles Gerard.
