Original United States General Land Office military bounty land patent issued during the administration of President James Buchanan.
This attractive document grants eighty acres of public land originally awarded to William Whitehead, a private in Captain Davis' Company of the Tennessee Militia who served during the War of 1812.
The patent records the transfer and assignment of the military land warrant and ultimately conveys title to Lewis Worthington for land located within the district subject to sale at La Crosse, Wisconsin.
Issued at Washington on August 1, 1859, and bearing the signature of President James Buchanan, together with the embossed seal of the General Land Office.
