Cartographer: Abraham Ortelius (1527-1598).
Title: Brixiani Agri Typus (Latin for "Type of the Brescian Fields"), also referred to as Bresciano. The title cartouche includes the motto: "Brixia, Cygnea supposita in specula".
Source: The map was originally published in Ortelius's landmark work, Theatrum Orbis Terrarum, which is considered the first modern atlas.
Date: The date "Circa 1590" is visible on the matting in the image, which corresponds to the dates of various editions of the map. The first edition of the complete atlas was published in 1570, and this specific map dates to around 1590 in many editions.
